Photogapher “I am what I suppose is known as an emerging Canadian photographer. The words of Minor White best describe my approach towards photography, " When gifts are given to me through my camera, I accept them graciously." I rarely set out to purposely create a photograph; rather what I do is simply open myself up to whatever happens. I find that when my mind is open the images simply present themselves to me. All I do is capture the image in my camera.
It could be argued that I don't have a 'style'. Perhaps that is because I am self-taught. Perhaps it is because I photograph whatever attracts my eye at the time. Perhaps it is because I am uncomfortable with limitations on what I should concentrate on in order to acquire a style. As a result my photographs are eclectic. My photography ranges from Irish, Barbadian, and Canadian Landscapes to Portraiture, to Fashion, to Live Music, to Still Life, to Street Photography.
Since picking up a camera a few years ago I have never looked at photographs the same way. I am a ravenous consumer of the work of other photographers past and present. When I am not shooting or working on his photographs I will often spend hours studying the works of past masters like Ansel Adams, Dorthea Lang, Walker Evans, Henri Cartier Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Brassai , Richard Avedon and Robert Mapplethorpe as well as the work of current photographers. It is through the works of these past masters and modern day photographers that I derive the inspiration and motivation to learn all I can so that one day I can become an acknowledged as an accomplished photographer.
Photography has become an overwhelming passion as well as addiction that I hope will never be lessen in its intensity or allure.
